Daniel has been talking about Dunlop Boots for quite some time. He wanted some for Christmas, but I didn't get around to looking for them. I think he was a bit disappointed, but he didn't complain. He just kept hinting... and hinting... and hinting some more.
I did some surreptitious online research on Monday, and phoned the only company in Canada that imports these boots. The nice lady said they didn't sell directly to the public (that would be ME), but that I could buy them at S. B. Simpson or at Mark's Work Warehouse.
We headed to Stratford on Monday, and I popped into Mark's. They had one pair. Size 5. That certainly wouldn't do for Daniel, whose feet are HUGE for the size of him. He's tall and skinny with size TWELVES.
"Can you order some for me?"
"Yes, certainly," the nice saleslady responded.
"When will I get them?"
"That depends. It could be a couple of days; more likely a week or two. You can have them delivered to your home address, or you can pick them up here at the store."
What a great idea - home delivery. I requested that, then paid for the boots. OUCH. It was painful to pay over $200 for a pair of rubber boots. But they were supposed to be good, and that's all that Daniel wanted for his birthday.
I prayed that God would orchestrate all of the events so that the boots would come today.
And, they did. (What a treat! Another indication that God loves us, and that He cares about the little details of life.)
Happy birthday, Daniel. Enjoy those warm feet!
